Cross Training/Other DHS Resources

It is part of our mission to help vulnerable adults we serve to access needed resources. Many of those resources are community resources, but many are resources right here within DHS itself. Getting to know those internal resources and working closely with our DHS coAPS specialists, is a critical element in assisting our clients in taking advantage of those resources. Your role in advocating for client services mandates that you know how to access those services. This module will help to familiarize you with some of those internal DHS Resources.

  • Family Support Eligibility Programs
    • Food Stamps
    • Health Benefits
    • TANF/WORK
    • Nursing Care & Alternative Care
  • Aging Services / Ombudsman/Advantage and Personal care
  • OCA
  • CPS
  • DDSD
  • OIG

There may be some of the “Cross Training Tasks” in the appendix that your new APS specialist is already familiar with, if they have recently come from one of those programs. If that is the case you the APSS IV can sign off on it noting the exception on the sign off sheet. All other tasks must be completed.

At the completion of this training packet, the participant will:

  • Give examples of how each of these internal DHS resources can impact the services delivered to an APS client.
  • Discuss with your APSS IV how APS and these other internal DHS resources interact with each other.
